Sunshine Coast, Queensland
1/ Walking – a Glorious morning walk along the riverfront out to the rolling surf. There is no better way to start the day. This caravan park is close to so many shops and cafes whilst still giving the feeling of getting away from it all. Head out right from the river in front of the caravan park out to the ocean and walk as long or short as you want. Following the wandering waterline.
I cannot count the amount of times we stated
“Ah! The Serenity”
2/ Favourite Cafes– Silva Spoon Tea Shop at Cotton Tree – Bespoke Coffee’s and delicious Teas. Silva Spoon Tea Shop is fast becoming our go to place for our morning cuppas. Always a big part for us when we travel is finding somewhere to get a Cappuccino or Latte…. And a sneaky bit of cake. Speaking of cake, The Silva Spoon has the most divine desserts as well as plenty of Gluten Free options.
3/ Sundowners– Drinks on the beach as the sun goes down, stay and watch the stars come out above. Sit awhile longer to admire the city lights come on across the bay. Groups gather to have a drink and watch the sunset across the Maroochydore River. After sunset it is hard to drag yourself away as the stars come out to put on their own show. It seems a show especially for us. Reluctantly everyone does drift back to our vans as it is time for dinner.
4/ Favourite Dinner out and of course cocktails? Mexican night and cocktails. We had dinner at local Mexican restaurant The Prickly Pinata at Cotton Tree. Don’t forget Happy Hour Daily 5.00-6.00pm with discounted delicious cocktails. I can highly recommend their icy cold Margarita’s.
5/ Things to do Cotton Tree, Sunshine Coast- Make sure you bring your Kayaks & S.U.Ps this is the perfect water sport for this spot. The popular inflatable S.U.Ps (stand up paddleboards) are very practical if you’re caravanning or travelling light. a safe and gentle swimming spot of you just want to relax and chill in the water. Don’t forget to pack your fishing rods, you can wander over from your van and throw the line in and catch some fresh fish for dinner.
6/ Places to Go
* A day trip to Australia Zoo is a chance to get up close to some iconic and some more exotic animals & birds. Check your timetable before you go to make sure you don’t miss anything.
* Sea Life Sunshine Coast Aquarium
* Aussie World at Palmview
*Visit a different beach each day
7/ Markets, markets and more markets, take your pick. There is an abundance of markets. From the markets outside your door on a Sunday here at Cotton tree to the renowned huge markets at Eumundi to The Kawana Farmers Markets. Popular for locally made artisan treasures & good food.
8/ Day trip to Pomona Distilling Co- Spirits Handcrafted with Passion- A long slow Leisurely lunch with a Gin Tasting platter, cheese board followed by lunch is hard to go by as a perfect way to spend the day. Combined with some great friends we had a fabulous day here. We will definitely be back to try more of their exotic cocktails. I had the Flossy Cocktail made of Pomona Pink Gin and Big Kev had the Mulled Wine.
9/ Picturesque Montville- A unique shopping and dining experience. A thirty minute drive from Cotton Tree. Leave plenty of time for this trip. You will need time to shop and look around. Stay for lunch or afternoon tea at one of their many dining options. You will need to wear walking shoes for this day. Be prepared for unparalleled views of the sunshine coast hinterland to the ocean.
10/ Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve Walk & Cafe – The perfect spot for a full view of the Glasshouse mountains. Go in the afternoon on the way back from Montville and watch the setting sun on the mountains. The walk is suitable for all fitness levels and at dusk if you’re quiet you will see some woodland creatures. A lovely walk at any time of day with a gold coin donation entry.
#Vanlife – The Details
At Cotton Tree Holiday Park we paid $68/night off season for an Absolute beachfront powered site. It was definitely worth it, waking up every morning being almost on the beach. You can’t pick your spot but all the spots seem great.
The Amenities are very very clean and a big tick of approval from us…. And we are very very fussy.
Shopping – Great cafes over the road and some lovely shops. If, ladies you like a bit of retail therapy pop over the road from Cotton Tree Holiday Park. I do and I did then, it is definitely worth checking out the shops, take your credit card with you for sure.
We love our The Coffee Club VIP membership. Which gives us a buy one get one free coffee and for the amount of barista coffee we drink this saves us a lot of money.
